Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts
The Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts is a downtown Amarillo landmark, providing a first-class venue for both orchestral and theatrical performances.
The undulating roof and layered masonry facade recall the shapes and colors of the nearby Palo Duro Canyon. The concrete structure for the theater is exposed and stained as an architectural finish for interior stairs, exterior columns, and walls. A singular, moveable orchestra shell allows the stage and fly loft to change from a tuned musical environment for symphonic performances to an open and flexible stagehouse for theatrical events.
