Long Center for the Performing Arts

Austin’s 1950s-era Palmer Auditorium was recycled in the true spirit of sustainable design to become the Long Center for the Performing Arts, Austin’s home for symphony, opera, and ballet. The arts complex includes a 2,300-seat concert hall and a 240-seat studio theater. The ring beam and columns of old Palmer remain as a remembrance of past performances and serve to define the new “City Terrace” or front porch of the new facility.

Within the Long Center, the Michael and Susan Dell Concert Hall is a classically designed performance space that can be tuned for symphonic music, a string quartet, rock and roll, or the spoken word.
