Paggi Square at Mueller Development

Paggi Square is a neighborhood "pocket park" in the Mueller Development in Austin, Texas. The park is nestled between rows of "shop houses," live-work spaces that recall the vibrancy of a small town square.

The structure of the steel pavilion provides shade for simple picnics or live performances. During the day, the herringbone pattern of the pavilion roof is projected in shadow on the ground below. As the day progresses, the pattern moves, reminding the observer of the passage of time. At night, strings of pin lights illuminate the space, evoking the ambience of an old European plaza.
