Cotillion Park Pavilion

Project Details

Cotillion Pavilion was commissioned by the City of Dallas Parks Department as part of a program to upgrade its outdated park structures. Mell Lawrence, FAIA was selected as one of several celebrated architects to work within the city's program.

The pavilion was constructed of structural steel tubes and angles left uncoated to weather to a rusted patina in the Texas sun and rain.

The structure veils a crimson elliptical mobile suspended from a single spindle. The steel disc rotates slowly with the wind, belying its true size and mass.
